  What is Material Steel AISI 4145? AISI 4145 /SAE4145 teel is an alloy steel formulated for primary forming into wrought products. Cited properties are appropriate for the annealed condition. 4145 is the designation in both the SAE and AISI systems for this material. G41450 is the UNS number. AISI 4145 is a chromium molybdenum alloy steel grade widely used in the oil and gas sectors for down hole applications. Similar to AISI 4140 but with a higher carbon content. 4145 is more popular in larger diameters due to its increased strength and hardenability. AISI 4145 is commonly supplied quenched and tempered with a hardness of between 30 to 36HRc although hardness’s of 55-62HRc are achievable.
